Arlene G Navarro – Counselor on Staff

arlene navarro Arlene holds a Master’s in Biblical Counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary and a Bachelor’s in Psychology. She also interned as a counselor at the Christian Counseling and Educational Foundation in Glenside, PA.

She has been an active member of Liberti church since 2004 and also serves as the Director of Care and Counseling. Prior to moving to Philadelphia and joining Liberti Church, Arlene served in various ministries for over ten years at her home church, Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York City. Her ministry experience includes Youth Group ministry, Small Group Leadership, Women’s Ministry and trained as a Deaconness. She also co-pioneered a faith and work ministry called the Haven, which targeted actors, artists and creative professionals from New York City. Arlene has over 18 years of media and advertising experience both in New York and San Francisco prior to pursuing fulltime ministry.

Arlene has co-led the Call to One-Anothering training series for Liberti layleaders and served as 1 of 4 panel speakers for the Women in Ecclesiology class at Westminster in Fall 2005, discussing the role of women in ministry.

She counsels individuals and couples for a wide variety issues including singleness, divorce & re-marriage counseling, sexual abuse, depression, fear, and anxiety and addictions. She will be pursuing her licensure for LPC in the Fall 2007.

She is single, enjoys urban living and the lifestyle that comes with it. She has hiked up Machu-Pichu and gone sky-diving in California. A natural lover of people, culture, nature, and the arts. She expresses her creativity through cooking and writing. She loves spending time with her family and friends.

Nick Darrell – Counselor Intern

nick darrellNick is a student at Westminster Theological Seminary pursuing a Master of Divinity degree in the biblical counseling track. He has been a member of Liberti since 2006 and joined the Liberti Care Team in January 2007. Before coming to Philadelphia, he lived in Spain for two years and then moved to New York City where he worked in publishing for five years. He also served as a small group leader for Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. Nick likes to play guitar, sing heavy metal karaoke, and to have a good laugh whenever possible. He has always been drawn to helping people work through problems, and is excited to share the hope of Christ as others have shared it with him. He lives in Northern Liberties with his wife, Sandi.

Sarah Wiese – Counselor Intern

sarah weiseCurrently in her 3rd year, working towards the completion of her Masters in Biblical Counseling at Westminster Theological Seminary, Sarah desires to see the church equipped to walk with each other through suffering and struggle with a renewed hope in the great news of Christ’s sufficiency and ability to care for his people and all of their struggles.  She is grateful for the opportunity to serve at liberti, and to see firsthand, the power of the gospel at work in the details of people’s lives.  Her previous ministry experience include Short Term Missions trip locally and abroad including Mexico, Bolivia and India. She was on staff at her home church’s college ministry Emmanuel Faith Community Church. She currently works for the Community Schools of Philadelphia as a Case Manager for Teen Parents Germantown High School.

Sarah enjoys being with friends and family. She loves the ocean, large bodies of water and sunshine. Any form of being outdoors is greatly enjoyed.
