Our residency program seeks to leverage all the resources we have as a network to train and equip future pastors, leaders, or church planters. We want to give leaders a practical, relational, and missional experience that not only becomes a significant resource for our network of churches, but allows us the great privilege to be an influence throughout the region and perhaps the world.
As Jesus lived among those whom he came to save, we seek to develop leaders who will see their lives as the very presence of Jesus for their context. We want to live with the understanding that to be a follower of Jesus is to be a “sent” person. As Jesus spoke the very words of truth and grace, so we seek to develop leaders who can speak the truth in love and grace. As Jesus showed mercy to those who would reject him, so we also seek to leaders who show mercy to those in need around them, advancing the good for the world around them.
Relationships are at the center of each residency as we focus on our relationship with God, with ourselves, and with others. Each resident is paired with a mentors, faithful men and women who have been humbly living sent lives for years. Weekly discussions with peers and mentors as well as disciplined personal journal reflections help residents think well about what it means to be sent on mission with God. Leaders from various vocational sectors of life are also invited to come and speak, helping residents process how they can integrate faith and work, as well as the necessary skills needed to lead in the world today.
Rooted in the life and rhythm of the local church, our residents learn by doing. The church is the one whom we serve as we seek to serve Christ. Deeply ingrained in our residency is the conviction that the life of the local church is the greatest source of learning, training, and life. Residents learn how to serve the church through various contexts in which our network churches are planted.
